The Shipping and Maritime Practice Group give technical guidance and comprehensive legal services to Clients in the maritime industryon matters including but not limited to cargo claims, carriage contracts and charter-party disputes.

Members of the Firm have wide-ranging expertise in handling Shipping and Maritime matters and our clients include cargo and shipowners, operators, agents, brokers, charterers and financial institutions. We also act as solicitors for ship sale and purchase transactions.

Some of the recent matters and transactions we have undertaken are as follows:

• Members of the firm were part of the team that recently secured the release of a Vessel leased by our Client, which was subject to arrest under a breach of covenant under a head contract.
• Members of the firm provided legal advice to a Client regarding its rights and entitlements under the breach of a vessel management company with a debt claim of about USD$500,000 and represented the Client in a court proceeding for the arrest of the vessel as security for the debt as well as determination of the substantive suit.
• A member of the Firm successfully defended the interest of a client with regards to an immediate arrest of a vessel in a matter for breach of Vessel Management Contract
